Verifying with Phantom

Phantom is a browser wallet for Solana and some Ethereum-compatible networks. You log in to Phantom and copy your address into Scrya once. After that, signing takes one click, with no copying or pasting of the message or signature. Signing is free and can’t move your funds.

What you can verify with Phantom

NetworkAssets
SolanaSOL, USDC, USDT
EthereumETH, USDC, USDT
PolygonUSDC, USDT
BaseUSDC

Phantom doesn’t support BNB Smart Chain or Arbitrum One. For those, use MetaMask or Brave Wallet. Scrya doesn’t use Phantom for Bitcoin, even though Phantom can hold it. See the Bitcoin wallet guides instead, such as Electrum or Sparrow.

Before you start

  • Open Scrya in the browser where Phantom is installed, and log in to (unlock) Phantom. Do this first: you need your address from Phantom before the Connect & Sign button appears.
  • Find your address. In Phantom, click Receive, then click the copy icon next to the network you need. Your Solana address and your Ethereum address are different, so copy the one for your request’s network.
  • Select the right account. Phantom shares whichever account is currently selected and doesn’t let websites choose, so switch to the account you’re verifying first.

Sign with Phantom

  1. On your request, click Start Verification, choose Private wallet, then choose Phantom.
  2. Log in to Phantom and copy your address (see Before you start). Paste it into the Your … address field. The message to sign and the Connect & Sign with Phantom button appear only after you paste a valid address.
  3. Click Connect & Sign with Phantom. A Phantom window opens.
  4. Approve the connection. If the account Phantom shows isn’t the one you’re verifying, switch accounts in Phantom first, then approve. Connecting only shares your public address.
  5. Review and sign the message. Check it matches the message on Scrya, then approve. This isn’t a transaction, so there’s no fee.
  6. You’ll see Signed as followed by your shortened address, and the Signature field is filled in. Check the fields, then click Submit for Verification.

Troubleshooting

  • No Phantom window opened, or the connection window closed and no signing request appeared. The button shows Opening Phantom… while a window should appear. If it doesn’t, the page says so — click the Phantom icon in your browser’s toolbar, where the request is waiting. The button then changes to Try again.
  • Phantom is connected as a different address. Scrya checks the account before asking you to sign. Switch accounts in Phantom and Scrya picks up the change automatically. Or correct the address field.
  • “Phantom wasn’t detected in this browser”. Install Phantom and reload the page, or open Scrya in the browser where it’s installed. If Scrya finds another browser wallet it offers on your network, such as MetaMask or Brave Wallet, it tells you.
  • Your Ethereum, Polygon or Base address isn’t showing in Phantom. Phantom lets you turn networks on and off in Settings > Active Networks.
  • Your address is rejected as not valid. You may have copied your Solana address for an Ethereum request, or the other way round.
  • You’re using a Ledger with Phantom on Solana. Signing Solana messages with a Ledger through third-party wallets can fail, and Scrya doesn’t offer Ledger for Solana.
  • Phantom warns that signing may lead to loss of funds. A genuine Scrya message is a random code of eight groups of four letters and numbers, joined by hyphens, and it matches the code on the verification screen. If Phantom shows something else, such as a different code, a raw hex blob or a transaction to approve, stop and contact support — that isn’t Scrya’s verification message.
  • Phantom says it hit an internal error on Solana. Reload the page and try again. If it keeps happening and the account is on a Ledger, Phantom can’t sign Solana verification messages with that account — contact whoever asked you to verify for another way to prove ownership.
  • The message expired. Messages last 15 minutes. Click Back, choose Phantom again and re-enter your address.
