Roles and permissions
Every Scrya account has one role. Your role decides which pages you see and what you can change. Scrya enforces these rules on its servers as well as on screen, and each organisation can only see its own data.
The three roles
- Business Admin runs your organisation’s account. Admins manage the team, organisation details and billing, and can do everything a Business User can. Your Settings page shows this role as Business Administrator.
- Business User does the day-to-day work: adding customers, sending requests and reviewing results.
- Customer is a person whose holdings you verify. Customers use the customer portal to complete requests. They see only their own requests and results.
When you invite a teammate, you choose Business User or Business Admin. Customers get their accounts through a customer invitation. See Adding customers.

Rules to know
- Your organisation must always have at least one Business Admin. To demote the last admin, promote someone else first.
- Scrya sets how many users your organisation can have. See Managing users.
- You can only switch a teammate between Business User and Business Admin. You can’t give a customer a business role.
Scrya staff
Scrya’s own team uses separate internal roles to support your account and review verifications. You can’t assign these roles.
Troubleshooting
- A button someone mentioned is missing. It’s probably limited to Business Admins. Check your role under User Type on Settings.
- You can’t save a customer’s details. Only a Business Admin can edit customers. Ask an admin in your organisation.
- You need a different role. Ask a Business Admin in your organisation to change it.
