Exporting or erasing customer data

When a customer asks what you hold about them, or asks you to delete it, you can export or erase their Scrya data yourself. Only Business Admins can do this.

Both options are in the Privacy & Data Rights section of the customer’s page. Business Users don’t see this section.

Export a customer’s data

  1. Go to Customers and open the customer.
  2. Scroll to Privacy & Data Rights.
  3. Next to Export customer data, click Export Data.

Your browser downloads a JSON file named <customer-name>-data-export-<date>.json. It contains:

  • the customer record
  • their verification requests, including the reason and message on each
  • each wallet address or exchange connection: asset, network, verification method, exchange name, monitoring status and dates, the verification result and balance data
  • exchange balances
  • a delivery log of emails sent to the customer’s address (email type, status and dates)

The export never includes wallet ownership proofs (signed messages and signatures) or the encrypted exchange API keys.

Erase a customer’s data

  1. Consider exporting first. Once the data is erased, there’s nothing left to export.
  2. In Privacy & Data Rights, click Erase Data.
  3. Read the list of what will be deleted in the Erase all data for ? window.
  4. Type ERASE in the confirmation box.
  5. Click Erase customer data.

Scrya confirms how many requests, addresses and audit entries it removed, then returns you to the Customers list.

Erasure permanently deletes:

  • the customer record
  • all their verification requests, addresses and balances, including stored exchange credentials
  • their login account, unless another organisation still verifies them
  • emails, notifications and audit-trail entries about them

It only affects this customer’s record in your organisation. If the same person is a customer of another organisation on Scrya, that organisation’s records aren’t touched.

Can erasure be undone?

No. Erasure is permanent and can’t be undone. It happens as a single step: if it fails, nothing is deleted.

Erasure also removes the audit-trail entries about the customer, so keep your own record of the request and when you completed it.

Troubleshooting

  • You can’t see Privacy & Data Rights. Only Business Admins can export or erase. Ask one of your admins.
  • “Export failed” or “Erasure failed”. Follow the message shown. If it includes an ERR reference, contact support and quote it. See Error references. If an erasure fails, nothing has been deleted, so you can try again.
