Verifying with Brave Wallet
Brave Wallet is the wallet built into the Brave browser. You log in to Brave Wallet and copy your address into Scrya once. After that, signing takes one click, with no copying or pasting of the message or signature. Signing is free and can’t move your funds.
What you can verify with Brave Wallet
| Network | Assets |
|---|---|
| Ethereum | ETH, USDC, USDT |
| BNB Smart Chain | USDC, USDT |
| Polygon | USDC, USDT |
| Arbitrum One | USDC, USDT |
| Base | USDC |
| Solana | SOL, USDC, USDT |
Scrya only uses Brave Wallet on the networks above.
Before you start
- Use the Brave browser, in a normal window. Brave Wallet isn’t available to websites in private or Tor windows.
- Set up Brave Wallet and log in to (unlock) it. Websites can’t see Brave Wallet until you’ve created or restored a wallet in it. Log in first: you need your address from Brave Wallet before the Connect & Sign button appears. If you can’t see the Brave Wallet button in the toolbar, turn on Show Brave Wallet button in
brave://settings/web3, or openbrave://wallet. - Let websites use Brave Wallet. Open
brave://settings/web3. Set Default Ethereum wallet (for Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum One and Base) or Default Solana wallet (for Solana) to Brave Wallet. If it’s set to Extensions (no fallback), Scrya can’t find Brave Wallet. - Find your address. In Brave Wallet, open Accounts, choose the account you’re verifying, then click the copy icon next to its address. Brave Wallet keeps Ethereum and Solana accounts apart. An account marked Ethereum + EVM Chains has the same address on every Ethereum-compatible network above. For Solana, use an account marked Solana + SVM Chains.
On the Ethereum-compatible networks, you don’t need to switch Brave Wallet to your request’s network. The signature is the same whichever network is selected.
Sign with Brave Wallet
- On your request, click Start Verification, choose Private wallet, then choose Brave Wallet.
- Log in to Brave Wallet and copy your address (see Before you start). Paste it into the Your … address field. The message to sign and the Connect & Sign with Brave Wallet button appear only after you paste a valid address.
- Click Connect & Sign with Brave Wallet. The Brave Wallet panel opens.
- Approve the connection. Make sure the account you’re verifying is the one selected, then connect. Connecting only shares your public address.
- Review and sign the message. Check it matches the message on Scrya, then approve the signature. This isn’t a transaction, so there’s no gas fee.
- You’ll see Signed as followed by your shortened address, and the Signature field is filled in. Check the fields, then click Submit for Verification.
Troubleshooting
- Nothing popped up. The button shows Opening Brave Wallet… while the panel should appear. If it doesn’t, the page says so — click the Brave Wallet icon in your browser’s toolbar, where the request is waiting. The button then changes to Try again.
- “Brave Wallet wasn’t detected in this browser”. Check that you’re in the Brave browser, in a normal window, that Brave Wallet is set up, and that
brave://settings/web3sets the default Ethereum or Solana wallet to Brave Wallet. Then reload the page. If Scrya finds another browser wallet it offers on your network, such as MetaMask or Phantom, it tells you. - Brave Wallet is connected as a different address. Scrya checks the account before asking you to sign. Switch to the right account in Brave Wallet and Scrya picks up the change automatically. Or correct the address field.
- Brave Wallet already has a request open. Click the Brave Wallet icon and finish or reject the open request.
- You cancelled by mistake. Nothing was signed. Click Connect & Sign with Brave Wallet again.
- Brave Wallet lost its connection. Reload the page and try again.
- The message expired. Messages last 15 minutes. Click Back, choose Brave Wallet again and re-enter your address.
- Your balance shows as zero. Your funds may be on a different network. See Choosing the right network.
