Verifying with Trezor
You sign with your Trezor using the Sign & verify tool in Trezor Suite. Nothing is signed until you confirm it on the device, and your keys never leave it.
What you can verify with Trezor
In Scrya, the Trezor guide covers Bitcoin (BTC) on the Bitcoin network.
Holding ETH, USDC or USDT on your Trezor? Scrya doesn’t have a Trezor guide for those networks. You can connect your Trezor to MetaMask and follow Verifying with MetaMask, approving on your device.
Before you start
- Use a supported account type. Trezor Suite doesn’t offer Sign & verify for Taproot accounts, and Scrya can’t verify Taproot (
bc1p…) addresses by signing. Use a Native SegWit, SegWit or Legacy account. - Pick the address that holds your funds. Scrya reads the balance of the one address you enter. Bitcoin wallets often spread a balance across several addresses. If yours is spread out, use Add address to verify more than one.
- Finding an address: in Trezor Suite, open the account, click Receive, then Show full address, and check it on your Trezor. This shows a new, unused address, so it may not hold your funds.
Sign with Trezor Suite
- Copy the message. On your request, click Start Verification, choose Private wallet, then Trezor. Enter your Bitcoin address and click Copy next to the message. Don’t retype it, because one changed character makes the signature invalid.
- Open Sign & verify. In Trezor Suite, select the Bitcoin account that holds the address. Click the ⋯ (three dots) at the top right of the account page and choose Sign & verify.
- Paste the message and pick your address. Paste the message into the Message box. In the Address field, choose the exact address you entered in Scrya.
- Click Sign. Trezor Suite sends the request to your device.
- Confirm on your Trezor. The device shows the message and the signing address. Check both match, then tap Confirm on the device. On older models, hold the button.
- Copy the signature back. Click Copy & Close. Paste the signature into Scrya’s Signature field as a single line, then click Submit for Verification.
Troubleshooting
- Your address isn’t listed in the Address field. It only lists addresses from the selected account. Check you opened the right account.
- Sign & verify is missing. You may be in a Taproot account. Switch to a Native SegWit, SegWit or Legacy account.
- The signature is rejected. Copy the whole signature with no spaces or line breaks, and make sure the message wasn’t changed.
- The message expired. Messages last 15 minutes. Click Back, choose Trezor again and re-enter your address.
