Verifying with Swyftx

To verify a balance you hold on Swyftx, you create a read-only API key on Swyftx and paste it into Scrya. An API key is a code that lets an app look at your account without your password. Swyftx keys are a single code, with no secret, so the API key is all Scrya asks for. No funds move.

What permission to choose

Scrya only asks Swyftx for your account balances. Choose a read-only scope. With read-only access, the key can’t buy, sell, deposit or withdraw.

Never add trading, withdrawal or deposit permissions. If you open show advanced configuration, the only permission Scrya needs is the one that reads your balances. Don’t tick anything else.

Create the key on Swyftx

On the Swyftx website:

  1. Sign in to Swyftx.
  2. Select your circled initial (top right), then Account settings.
  3. Select API keys, then Create a key.
  4. Select I understand.
  5. Enter a title you’ll recognise, such as “Scrya read-only”.
  6. Choose the pre-defined Read Only scope, then select Continue.
  7. Enter your password and select Continue.
  8. Swyftx shows your API key and an access token. Copy the API key now. Swyftx can’t show it again, so if you lose it you’ll need to create a new key. You don’t need the access token.

In the Swyftx app, the path is the three-line menu (top left) → Profile → API Keys → Create new key.

Why only the API key?

Swyftx keys have no secret, and Scrya doesn’t need the access token Swyftx shows you either. That’s why Scrya’s form has no API Secret box when you choose Swyftx.

Add the key in Scrya

  1. Open your verification request in Scrya and select Start Verification next to the asset.
  2. Choose Centralised exchange, then Swyftx.
  3. Paste your Swyftx API key into API Key. Select Show if you want to check nothing was cut off.
  4. Select Connect exchange.

Scrya encrypts your API key before storing it, then checks your balance straight away. It records only the balance of the asset you’re verifying. When the check succeeds you’ll see Monitoring progress, and you can select Close.

Verified with Swyftx before? You can pick a saved key and select Reuse and verify instead.

Should I restrict the key to an IP address?

No. Swyftx’s key setup doesn’t ask for IP addresses, so there’s nothing to change. If it ever offers to limit a key to certain IP addresses, leave that off: Scrya’s checks don’t come from one fixed address.

Troubleshooting

  • Invalid credentials (before anything is sent): the API key looks too short or contains characters exchange keys don’t use. Make sure you pasted the API key, not the access token, and copy it again.
  • Couldn’t connect to Swyftx: Swyftx didn’t accept the key. Check the key hasn’t been removed and that you copied it in full. If you’ve lost the API key, create a new one.
  • The key doesn’t have permission to read your balances: create a new key with the read-only scope.
  • Something went wrong on our side: this one’s on us. Note the reference (ERR-XXXX-XXXX) and see Error references.

Revoke the key

Once your verification is complete, you can remove the key:

  1. On the Swyftx website, go to Account settings → API keys.
  2. Select the … menu in the key’s row, then Remove.
  3. Confirm with Yes, revoke.

Avoid Revoke all keys unless you mean it. It also switches off keys you’ve given to other apps.

After that, Scrya can’t reuse the key for a future request, so you’d create a new one. If you made a key that failed to connect, delete that one too. Scrya deletes its own encrypted copy 30 days after your verification completes. See Revoking your API key.
